Electricians' association teaches grade-schoolers about electrical safety
The Chula Vista Expert Electricians’ Association or CVEEA has conducted an electrical safety learning session with select grade school students from Chula Vista. The electrical safety talk took place during the science week celebration of their school. The faculty invited representatives from CVEEA to conduct the mini-lecture.
CVEEA President Robert Bingham says their organization is more than happy to propagate electrical safety information, especially to children. "Children are one of the most vulnerable people when it comes to electrical shocks and electrocution. We are glad to share crucial information to them that could help them stay safe," says Bingham.
Bingham says, as electricians, they are in the best position to lecture on electrical safety for children. They have the training, knowledge, and experience in electrical safety, as well as the dangers that come with handling electricity every day. More than that, most of their members are fathers themselves and have the best interest of children in their hearts.
"For the mini-lecture, we asked members who have children of the same age as our audience, to conduct the safety seminar on behalf of the group. Apart from being able to share real-life anecdotes, these members of ours know how to relate to grade-schoolers since they interact with their own every single day," Bingham enthuses.
The electricians were well received by the children, with most very interested in what the speakers had to say. Most of them were amazed at the equipment and illustrations that were brought over by the lecturers. During the question and answer portion, a good number of students also asked highly relevant questions to the electricians.
The CVEEA is a non-profit organization made up of licensed commercial and residential electricians living and working in Chula Vista, California. One of their group’s objectives is to ensure children’s safety around electrical fixtures. Apart from safety seminars, the organization also holds mini parenting seminars on electrical safety and childproofing around the house.
According to the CVEEA, as long as their organization exists, they will continue carrying out safety forums, and propagate information on electrical safety throughout the community.
